Understanding Continuity of Care:  A Mixed Methods Study Exploring Midwifery Client Experiences of Continuity of Care
Continuity of care refers to care provided by a known midwife with a consistent approach to care. Being cared for by a small group of midwives and having known midwives at a birth has been shown to be beneficial to women and their newborns. However, maintaining the current level of continuity may be contributing to midwives leaving the profession due to on-call requirements and long working hours.
Researchers are interested in knowing what is important to midwifery clients about continuity of care and how it impacted their pregnancy and birth experiences.
